As many of you know, I am a sucker for natural, cruelty-free products, but cleansing my skin with oil has been a brand new concept. I was always told that with my acne-prone, oily skin, I should steer clear of anything lacking the label “oil free.” However, I did some research. Oily skin is actually dry skin overcompensating for its lack of moisture… I had no idea.
It made me rethink my whole skin regimen. Instead of harshly stripping my skin with acne products and soaps, I consciously decided to take a more gentle approach. Using Josie Maran’s Argan Cleansing Oil (found here), I started using the OCM (short for Oil Cleansing Method). You start by massaging a small amount of oil onto your dry face–its fantastic for gently removing makeup. Then, you soak a wash cloth in hot water (as hot as you can stand), wring it out, and place it over your face, allowing the steam from the cloth to open your pores. I sit for at least a minute with the wash cloth draped over my face, and then gently rub the oil off and rinse with cool water. Its amazing how soft and velvety your skin will feel afterward. I’m hooked AND my face has cleared up!
Go and love one another,
